Overview

At a meeting of the Kirk Session in March 2012 the new Burial Rules for Killymurris Graveyards were proposed and adopted. These rules are binding on all burial plot certificate holders
The graveyards are the property of the Trustees of Killymurris Presbyterian Church and new burial plots are reserved only for the use of members of the congregation.
For these rules a member of the congregation is defined as someone who has contributed to the Freewill Offering of the church in each of the last 3 full financial years.
Only one person can be the registered holder of a burial plot and he/she cannot transfer this to anyone other than a member of his/her family and only on death. Anyone wishing to transfer a plot must always consult a Graveyard Convenor for approval so that it may be properly registered, and required fee of £50 to be paid for re-registration.
Killymurris Congregational Committee does not recognize a transfer of right of interment from the registered owner to another family.
New burial plots are reserved only for members of this congregation and double plots may be purchased by each family. The charge for a new single burial plot will be £300 (which includes the first opening). The interment fee for members for each subsequent opening of burial plots will be £150.
Where a person ceases to be a member of this congregation he/she maintains the privilege of burial in the grave plot of which he/she was previously the registered holder. The interment fee for the burial plots of non-members is £600.
The Congregational Committee has the right to alter any of the above rules, fees etc. in response to circumstances that arise. In all cases of dispute concerning allocation of graves or management of the graveyards, the decision of the Congregational Committee is final.
Visitors to the graveyards are expected to ensure that they are kept clean and tidy and that children do not interfere with or play on surrounding graves.
All plot certificate holders should ensure that their names are registered in the Graveyard register.
